About Me

Pianist Hanyan Zheng began her musical journey at the age of 4, studying with her father. With a repertoire that showcases her virtuosity across solo and chamber performances in the United States, Europe, and China, Hanyan has established herself as a remarkable and accomplished artist. She was awarded first prize at the Faszlo Spezzaferri Italy International Music Competition in 2021 and the Charleston Spring Music Competition in 2022, and earned third prize at the WPTA Finland International Piano Competition in 2021. In June 2022, Hanyan took the stage with the Seattle Philharmonia Northwest to perform Saint-Saëns' 5th concerto after earning second prize at the 2019 University of Washington Concerto Competition.

Hanyan holds a bachelor's degree in piano performance from the China Conservatory and a master's degree in piano performance from the University of Michigan, where she was mentored by the celebrated American pianist Christopher Harding. Currently, she is pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance at the University of Washington, studying under the renowned American artist Robin McCabe. This May, Hanyan will bring her impressive talent to the Seattle Eastside Symphony, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 27 in B-flat Major, K. 595.
